The Toyota Alphard Hybrid continues to be one of Singapore's most sought-after vehicles, with waiting lists at authorised dealers now extending beyond six months. The supply shortage, exacerbated by global semiconductor constraints and overwhelming demand from Asian markets, has driven premiums in the parallel import market to unprecedented levels.
Despite the long wait and premium pricing — a well-specced Alphard Hybrid now commands upwards of S$280,000 with COE — demand shows no signs of abating. The Alphard's unique combination of executive luxury, family-friendly practicality, and Toyota reliability creates a value proposition that no competitor has successfully replicated.
Alternatives exist, including the Lexus LM (essentially an even more luxurious Alphard), the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, and the emerging Maxus Mifa 9 electric MPV from China. But none have managed to dethrone the Alphard from its perch as Singapore's undisputed luxury MPV king.
