The Jetour brand has unveiled a rugged crossover in its home market called the Freedom 7 Plus. Essentially, it is a renamed and modernized version of the "regular" Freedom, which is known as the T1 in other markets, including Russia. At the same time, the company announced several other new models.
Jetour, a brand owned by Chery, held a special event in China where it showcased several new models at once. The main premieres are the purely gasoline-powered Jetour Freedom 7 Plus crossover, an electric crossover tentatively named the Jetour Tourer, and the hybrid flagship Jetour Traveler 8. The electrified SUVs are still prototypes. However, the Freedom 7 Plus is already a production vehicle, with sales launch announced directly at the presentation, so we will start with it.
Although Jetour considers the Freedom 7 Plus a separate new model, in reality it is a modernized version of the "regular" Jetour Freedom, which has been given two "suffixes." The original crossover has been present in China since 2025, and in the same year it appeared in export markets, including Russia. However, outside of China, the pre-facelift crossover is called the Jetour T1. That said, the "One" itself is also available in its home market, but exclusively with a hybrid powertrain: such a crossover belongs to the Shanhai family there.
Be that as it may, the Jetour Freedom 7 Plus has its own radiator grille – with vertical slats. The bumpers have also been changed. Additionally, there is a "backpack" at the rear. The length of the Jetour Freedom 7 Plus is 4796 mm, compared to 4706 mm for the local gasoline-powered "regular" Freedom. The wheelbase remains the same at 2810 mm.
Inside, the Freedom 7 Plus features a different steering wheel; otherwise, the interior is the same as the original crossover. The new modification is available in two trim levels. The standard equipment list includes: 19-inch wheels, LED lighting, a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster, a multimedia system with a 15.6-inch tablet, wireless charging, surround-view cameras, and adaptive cruise control. The more expensive version also adds heated and ventilated front seats.
The Jetour Freedom 7 Plus crossover is only available with the top-tier 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine (254 hp), a classic eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. The original Freedom with the 2.0T in China also comes with front-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch robotic gearbox; additionally, that crossover can be purchased there with a smaller 1.5-liter turbo engine (184 hp), a robotic gearbox, and front-wheel drive.
Excluding promotions, the Jetour Freedom 7 Plus with the new design will cost between 144,900 and 159,900 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 1.66 million to 1.83 million rubles at the current exchange rate.
As for the Jetour Tourer and Traveler 8 concepts, they have been displayed before – albeit under different names. These crossovers were shown in April at the Beijing Auto Show: the electric car was then designated as the TX, and the hybrid flagship was labeled as the T8. There is still little information about them.
For now, it is known about the Jetour electric crossover that its length is approximately 4400 mm, and the wheelbase is "over 2700 mm." This crossover has all-wheel drive, with a promised range of over 500 km.
The Jetour Traveler 8 is also all-wheel drive and is additionally claimed to feature artificial intelligence. On electric power alone, this crossover will travel 300 km, with a total range of over 1300 km.
It is expected that the electrified Jetour crossovers will go into production next year.
