A special version of a Japanese brand's truck, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the United States, is entering the American market and will be produced in a limited edition.
The current body-on-frame Nissan Frontier pickup truck, third generation, designed for the US auto market, debuted in 2021. A couple of weeks ago, the Japanese brand's "official" office announced what changes the 2027 model year truck has received. One of the main changes was the introduction of a new version with the Sport Edition suffix added to the name. Now, the appearance of a special anniversary Frontier variant has been revealed.
The Nissan Frontier 250th Anniversary Edition is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. The company decided to release this pickup truck in a limited edition for the July 4th celebration, with the series totaling 2,500 units. Production of the special variant will start next month. It is reported that no price premium is planned for the special edition.
Although this is not surprising, considering that the Frontier 250th Anniversary Edition has only one change, and it is quite modest. As Nissan's press service stated, the anniversary pickup received a revised design for the large model name inscription on the tailgate – featuring a star and stripe pattern (from the US flag), executed in a monochrome black-and-gray scheme. That, essentially, is all the "extras."
The special edition of the body-on-frame pickup is based on the top-tier Pro-4X trim, meaning the truck is equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers, additional underbody protection, an electronic rear differential lock, and unique 17-inch wheels shod with a set of off-road tires.
The "heart" of the Nissan Frontier 250th Anniversary Edition is, obviously, standard: under the hood of this all-wheel-drive pickup lies a 314-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 engine, with a maximum torque of 381 Nm. The engine works in conjunction with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The price of the special edition starts at $42,190, which is equivalent to approximately 3.3 million rubles at the current exchange rate.
Nissan's American office noted that the release of the variant with the 250th Anniversary Edition suffix also coincides with the 1-millionth Frontier unit, which recently rolled off the assembly line at the company's plant located in Canton, Mississippi. It is worth noting that initially, in 1998, production of the model started at a facility in Smyrna, Tennessee, but in 2012, the pickup changed its home. By the way, the V6 engine for this model is also produced in Tennessee, at a plant located in the city of Decherd.
Sales of the Nissan Frontier pickup on the US market for the full year 2025 dipped slightly – by 4.8% to 66,478 units. However, the situation began to improve at the start of 2026: in the first quarter, customers purchased 21,411 trucks, which is 31.5% more than in January-March 2025. Very soon, 2027 model year pickups should reach dealers.
