The refreshed crossover sedan from the Japanese brand is expected to receive not only exterior adjustments but also technical changes.
The history of the Toyota Crown now spans over 70 years and sixteen generations. The premiere of the current generation model took place in the summer of 2022: at that time, the recognizable name was assigned to an entire family of cars. Thus, the previous Crown was produced only as a sedan and was mainly aimed at Japan, while the current lineup is global and includes four models. The family consists of: a regular sedan, its "raised" version with the Crossover suffix, a station wagon with the "Sport" surname, and an SUV with the Estate suffix.
Now official information has emerged that the crossover sedan is preparing for an imminent update. The Japanese company has not yet gone into details about what specific changes the four-door will receive during the facelift, but has already published a couple of official images showing the exterior adjustments of the refreshed Toyota Crown Crossover.
Judging by the photos, the main exterior changes concern the two-tone body paint, or more precisely, a different distribution of areas painted in contrasting colors. In the car shown in the photos, the black color (by the way, the company claims the shade is new) is applied to the air intakes, the radiator grille, the "smile" running above the headlights, the hood, all pillars including the front ones, the sloping roof, the side mirror housings, the side and wheel arch moldings, as well as the narrow lower part of the rear bumper and the element under the thin strip of the "mono-light" on the slightly revised rear end.
Recall that in the crossover sedan that debuted in 2022, the roof pillars were finished in the main body color, with silver inserts on the upper line of the side windows and on the door handles. Meanwhile, the entire trunk lid and the side elements covering the edges of the "mono-light" and the strip at the bottom of the rear bumper, where the parking sensors are installed, were painted black.
It is reported that the list of standard equipment for the Toyota Crown Crossover in the RS trim will include red brake calipers. A batch of changes is also expected in the interior. Thus, the "winter package" and steering wheel paddle shifters have been included in the standard equipment list, while the spare tire and digital rearview mirror have disappeared from the list. Additionally, the Z and RS versions will now come with a digital key.
The company has not yet disclosed any technical changes that the Toyota Crown Crossover might receive during the facelift. However, according to the Japanese publication Creative Trend, the crossover sedan may later receive a modernized hybrid system. It will also be based on a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, which will work in tandem with a more powerful electric motor (16 hp more). At the same time, the total system output is expected to increase by 5 "horses" and reach 239 hp. Additionally, the car is expected to have an extended operating time on electric power alone. Meanwhile, the Toyota Crown RS will likely retain its previous maximum of 349 hp.
The full presentation of the updated Toyota Crown Crossover will take place in mid-September 2026. Prices will be announced later. The starting price of the current crossover sedan in Japan is 5,150,000 yen (equivalent to approximately 2.46 million rubles at the current exchange rate), while the top version costs at least 6,800,000 yen (about 3.25 million rubles).
