The British brand showcased a prototype of its upcoming fully "green" new model at a special event in Goodwood (UK). It is expected that such an SUV will debut at the end of 2026.
Land Rover has been producing the Range Rover Sport since 2005, and the current third-generation SUV debuted in May 2022. The production top-end variant with the SV suffix joined the lineup in the summer of 2025. The model is now preparing for a planned mid-lifecycle update. One of the most significant updates will be the introduction of a fully electric version to the lineup.
It has been known for several years that the Range Rover Sport will have a version with the Electric suffix in its name. For instance, back in August 2024, we published spy shots of a test prototype of the "green" SUV modification. Now, the British have officially unveiled new prototypes of the Range Rover Sport Electric, though they are still "clad" in the current body of the model that debuted in 2022, albeit with new wheel rims and special decals on the body.
The British company showcased the Range Rover Sport Electric prototypes during a special event held in Goodwood (UK). During the "demonstration tests," the SUVs were driven through an airplane, made to ascend and descend a high ramp, taken over off-road hills, and raced around a track. In short, they made every effort to show that the "electric" versions can do everything the "hydrocarbon" versions of the Range Rover Sport can.
There is no official information yet about the "innards" of the upcoming "green" SUV. According to preliminary data, the new model will feature an 800-volt architecture, a lithium-ion traction battery with a capacity of about 100 kWh, and a range on a single charge likely exceeding 500 km (under the WLTP cycle). The upcoming model is expected to have all-wheel drive and a dual-motor powertrain (one on each axle), with a total output of approximately 550 hp.
The British company JLR also confirmed that the updated Range Rover Sport lineup will retain modifications with petrol and diesel six-cylinder engines, a petrol V8 engine as part of an MHEV system, as well as plug-in hybrid setups. It is worth noting that all the listed options are present in the current model's lineup. It is possible they will carry over unchanged to the facelifted SUV.
The company promised to reveal details about the "green" new model later and noted that it will debut before the end of this year. Prices for the Range Rover Sport Electric will also be announced later. On the domestic market, in the UK, the price of the current SUV starts from £77,620 (equivalent to approximately 8.17 million rubles at the current exchange rate), while the top-end variant costs at least £106,890 (about 11.3 million rubles).
Last spring, it became known that the Range Rover Sport had received an anniversary special edition called the Twenty Edition. This SUV came with SV trim equipment, exclusive body colors, and distinctive decor, but its mechanicals remained standard.
