The Japanese brand appears to have decided to get rid of the last "electric car" in its North American model lineup.
In developing the Honda Prologue crossover for North America, the Japanese company was assisted by the American corporation General Motors, making its closest relatives the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq (both brands are owned by GM). In turn, the Prologue also had a more "upscale" twin – the Acura ZDX, but its market career ended almost as soon as it began: the model debuted in 2023 and was discontinued in 2025.
The life of the Honda Prologue crossover turned out to be only slightly longer. It went on sale in 2023, received updates in 2025, but the current 2026 model year appears to be the last for this SUV. This is reported by Carbuzz, citing an unnamed representative of Honda's American office. He stated, in particular, that "Honda will end sales of the Prologue later this year," but customers will continue to receive full dealer support.
The reasons for the manufacturer's abandonment of the fully electric Honda Prologue crossover obviously lie, among other things, in its weak sales. Notably, based on the results of 2025, the model's sales figure was 39,194 units, which is 19.1% higher than the previous year. It can be assumed that the increase was influenced by customers' desire to take advantage of federal tax credits before they were discontinued.
After the incentives for buying electric cars were canceled, sales of the Honda Prologue plummeted: for example, in December 2025, US dealers sold only 932 units, which is 88.6% less than the previous year. The SUV's performance this year also leaves much to be desired: in the first half of 2026, it sold 8,407 units in the US, corresponding to a 48.5% drop compared to January-June of last year.
As of today, the Honda Prologue is still featured on the brand's official product website. Two powertrain options are available for the SUV, but there is only one traction battery, with a capacity of 85 kWh. The model is offered either with a single 223-hp electric motor located on the front axle (maximum torque – 329 Nm), or with all-wheel drive and a dual-motor setup, whose combined output is 304 hp (481 Nm). In the first case, the maximum range on a single charge is 496 km, in the second – 455 km (EPA cycle).
The current starting version of the Honda Prologue on the American market costs at least $39,900 (equivalent to approximately 3.13 million rubles at the current exchange rate), purchasing the mid-level trim will cost $44,200 (about 3.46 million rubles), and for the top-tier version, they ask at least $50,400 (about 3.95 million rubles).
Recall that earlier the Japanese company abandoned several "green" projects for the US: namely, the development of electric vehicles under the Afeela brand (a joint project with Sony), as well as the production-ready Honda 0 SUV, Honda 0 Saloon, and Acura RSX. The manufacturer now intends to focus on hybrids.
