The full-size truck of the American brand has been updated following its closest relative – last week, the refreshed Chevrolet Silverado made its debut.
The GMC brand, owned by the American corporation General Motors, has been producing the current fifth-generation full-size Sierra pickup since 2018, with its first update in 2021. Sales of this model in the US have been growing over the past three years: by the end of 2025, official dealers sold a total of 353,347 units, an increase of 18.3% compared to the previous year. However, this year the model is currently in the red: in the first quarter, the truck sold 75,607 units nationwide (3.7% less than in January-March 2025).
Now, GMC has introduced the once-again updated Sierra 1500 pickup (positioned by the company as the next generation), following its closest relative – last week, the refreshed Chevrolet Silverado debuted. The model's appearance has been changed with an enlarged radiator grille of a different shape, new headlights (featuring welcome animation, including for the taillights), and a redesigned lower front bumper section.
The interior of the GMC Sierra 1500 has also received a batch of updates. The top-tier Denali Ultimate trim includes: a 12.2-inch virtual instrument cluster, a 16.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen, an 11.5-inch touchscreen for the front passenger, as well as a 15-inch head-up display and a camera replacing the rearview mirror (8.5 inches).
Additionally, the refreshed large pickup's cabin features physical buttons for controlling various functions, a wireless charging pad for two smartphones, a panoramic roof, a new MultiPro center console, natural wood trim elements, in some versions – a storage compartment behind the central touchscreen, and the Super Cruise system suite. The AT4X trim comes with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, Multimatic shocks, firmer seats, and a different steering wheel.
During the update, the GMC Sierra 1500's engine lineup was revised (following the same principle as the Chevrolet Silverado). The lineup now includes new naturally aspirated V8 engines (with upgraded combustion, cooling, and fuel injection systems) with displacements of 5.7 and 6.6 liters. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed details about their power and torque.
In addition, the lineup still includes the 3.0-liter Duramax V6 turbodiesel (the current version has a maximum power of 309 hp), as well as the inline four-cylinder TurboMax engine with a displacement of 2.7 liters and an output of 314 hp. Both are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission.
It is known that the updated full-size GMC Sierra 1500 pickup will arrive at dealerships by the end of 2026, with prices to be announced later. On the US market, the starting version of the current truck currently costs $38,300 (equivalent to approximately 2.97 million rubles at the current exchange rate), while the top-tier version starts at no less than $84,400 (about 6.55 million rubles).
