GAC has launched sales of the new GS4 crossover in its home market. The model is not a completely original development – it is based on the Aion i60.
Announced as the new, fifth-generation Trumpchi GS4 crossover (the Trumpchi brand is used only in China), the GAC group unveiled it domestically in June. Now, configurations and prices have been revealed, and sales have commenced.

Recall that the first-generation model debuted in 2015, and the "second" crossover was introduced in 2019. However, the other crossovers with the GS4 index are variants of other GAC vehicles. The larger Trumpchi GS5 was positioned as the "third" crossover – it was demoted to the GS4 with the Plus suffix in 2021. The "fourth" SUV with the "Max" surname became the GAC Trumpchi Emkoo in 2024. And it was the Max that reached Russia last year, but simply as the GAC GS4.

The "fifth" crossover is also not an original development. This Trumpchi GS4 is based on the Aion i60 (Aion is another sub-brand of GAC). The latter model, in turn, is related to the Aion V (this SUV is also available in Russia) and the Toyota bZ3X.

From the Aion i60, the new GS4 inherits the body, lighting, and semi-hidden door handles. The front bumper of the "fifth" crossover is original. Additionally, the radiator grille is in its usual place, whereas the donor crossover has a smooth "nose."

The length of the new Trumpchi GS4 is 4680 mm, width is 1860 mm, height depending on the version is 1660 or 1675 mm, and the wheelbase is 2770 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the Aion i60 are: 4685/1854/1660 mm, with a wheelbase of 2775 mm. The dimensions of the GAC Trumpchi GS4 Max, i.e., the previous generation crossover, are: 4685/1901/1690 mm, with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. The cheapest new crossover comes with 17-inch wheels, while other trims have 18-inch wheels.

Inside, the GS4 also largely mirrors the Aion i60. The cabin features separate screens for the instrument cluster (8.88 inches) and the multimedia system (15.6 inches), a two-spoke steering wheel, and a two-tier central tunnel. The multimedia system is based on artificial intelligence. A steering column stalk controls the transmission.

The donor Aion i60 is available as a hybrid or an electric car. However, the new GAC Trumpchi GS4 is presented exclusively in a "traditional" configuration with technology from its local predecessor. This includes a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 177 hp, a seven-speed dual-clutch robotic gearbox, and front-wheel drive only (in Russia, the current model has an all-wheel-drive version with a 2.0-liter turbo engine).

In China, the new GS4 is currently offered in three trims. The base version includes the aforementioned displays, climate control, a rearview camera, and cruise control. The "mid-range" version adds surround-view cameras. The top-tier Trumpchi GS4 features a panoramic roof, wireless smartphone charging, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, and automatic braking and lane-keeping systems.
The new-generation GAC Trumpchi GS4 crossover is priced at 87,800 – 100,800 yuan, equivalent to approximately 1.01 million – 1.17 million rubles at the current exchange rate. Meanwhile, first-time buyers are eligible for discounts, bringing the model's price to 79,800 – 90,800 yuan (924,000 – 1.05 million rubles). GAC has not yet announced when the export version of the GS4 will transition to the new generation.
