Geely's new crossover will be offered as an all-wheel-drive hybrid, with expectations that there will be two such versions. The model will hit the domestic market before the end of this year.
Geely has taken its time with the premiere of the brutal crossover in the Galaxy lineup. The model was first presented as a concept last year. The first photos of the production version were published in March of this year, along with the announcement of its commercial name – Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700. In early July, the interior was showcased. And today in China, a presentation was held for local journalists and bloggers, although the manufacturer has yet to reveal all the specifications. However, additional official images have been released. Moreover, the Galaxy Cruiser 700 recently passed certification, so a basic understanding of the model can still be obtained.
The Cruiser 700 features a "boxy" body, imposing bumpers, LED semi-circular daytime running lights, vertical rear taillights, and a split tailgate that can accommodate a spare tire. The emblem on the grille is illuminated. Naturally, the equipment list includes an autopilot system with a lidar above the windshield.
According to today's presentation, numerous accessories are also available for the Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700. These include various trims, a roof rack, additional roof lights, and a storage box on the rear pillar.
The length of the Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 is 5085 mm (possibly including the spare tire), the width is 1999 mm, and the height varies from 1895 to 1925 mm depending on the configuration. The wheelbase is 2900 mm. Chinese media also report that the official ground clearance is 233 mm.
Inside the five-seat cabin, there is an instrument screen integrated into the dashboard and a "floating" tablet for the multimedia system. There is an additional narrow display in front of the passenger. On the center tunnel are a substantial gear lever, a charging pad, and physical buttons, with a touch panel at the rear for settings. A box with heating and cooling functions is hidden in the central armrest.
The Galaxy Cruiser 700 is an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid. Documents from the Ministry of Industry indicate that entry-level versions feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 163 hp, while higher-end variants come with a 2.0-liter turbo engine delivering 218 hp.
Geely has also previously stated that the hybrid system includes three electric motors (likely one at the front and two at the rear), and that the Cruiser 700 features a differential lock and the company's proprietary GVMC dynamic control system. Finally, Chinese media are predicting a "crab walk" mode for the new model. According to their data, the total power output of the top-tier crossover is 1128.5 hp. It is expected that the crossover will be offered with a battery capacity of 47.14 kWh.
The brutal Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 is expected to hit the domestic market before the end of this year. In 2027, the new model will likely be exported, possibly under a different name.
