Orders for the Avatr 07L crossover have opened in China. Currently, the new model is only available as an electric vehicle with rear-wheel drive or three-motor all-wheel drive. Hybrid versions will join the lineup later.
The Avatr 07L crossover was certified in the database of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology back in May, after which the brand released several official images of the new model. The interior was revealed in June. Now, pre-orders have opened in China. As a reminder, the Avatr brand is a joint project between Changan, IT giant Huawei, and battery manufacturer CATL. The 07L crossover is essentially a lengthened and updated version of the "standard" Avatr 07, which has been on the market since 2024.
The "L" model measures 4910 mm in length, 1980 mm in width, 1650 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2990 mm. For comparison, the pre-facelift "standard" Avatr 07 has a length of 4825 mm, the same width of 1980 mm, a height ranging from 1605 to 1620 mm depending on the version, and a wheelbase of 2940 mm.
The Avatr 07L also differs from the "short" crossover in exterior design. The stretched version features its own bumpers and semi-hidden door handles instead of pop-out ones. The rear lights are designed as a single strip, whereas the "standard" Avatr 07 has separate narrow strips. Additionally, the "L" model has roof rails (which the previous SUV lacked). Like the short-wheelbase model, the Avatr 07L offers cameras instead of traditional exterior mirrors and an autopilot system with a lidar above the windshield. However, the new crossover has a more advanced lidar—896-line instead of the 192-line lidar on the "short" crossover. The driver assistance system is, of course, from Huawei, as is the rest of the electronics.
Despite its increased dimensions, the Avatr 07L crossover is strictly a five-seater. The interior is nearly identical to the Avatr 07, with only minor differences. For example, there are additional round audio system speakers in the upper part of the doors, and the cupholders on the center tunnel are hidden under a lid. At the end of the tunnel, there is a rectangular air vent instead of the two round ones on the "standard" 07, plus a touch panel for controlling various settings has been added.
The flattened steering wheel, the narrow display spanning almost the entire width of the dashboard, and the large multimedia system tablet are carried over from the Avatr 07. For cars with cameras instead of mirrors, there are a pair of displays on the sides of the main screen. The "L" model also features heated, ventilated, and massaging seats. Instead of the currently trendy ceiling tablet in China, a projector with a roll-up screen can be ordered.
The Avatr 07L debuted in two versions, both fully electric. The first option features a 415-horsepower motor on the rear axle. The second version comes with all-wheel drive, featuring three electric motors (one at the front, two at the rear) with a combined output of 968 hp. There is a single battery with a capacity of 89.33 kWh. The rear-wheel drive crossover has a range of 725 km under the CLTC cycle and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The all-wheel drive crossover will travel 650 km and reach 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. Hybrid versions of the Avatr 07L will become available later. According to preliminary data, the base hybrid will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (150 hp) acting as a generator and a 314-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle. Higher-end hybrid versions will be all-wheel drive, with the same internal combustion engine and three electric motors, delivering a combined 722 hp. It is worth noting that the "short" Avatr 07 is also available as a hybrid or electric vehicle, but with different technology.
The rear-wheel drive electric Avatr 07L currently costs 249,900 yuan (approximately 2.9 million rubles at the current exchange rate), while the all-wheel drive crossover is preliminarily priced at 279,900 yuan (3.2 million rubles). The full presentation of the extended crossover will take place on August 8, at which time the exact prices—including those for hybrid versions—are likely to be announced.
