Suzuki has unveiled an updated compact crossover, the Brezza. The model receives a refreshed exterior and improved equipment. The engine lineup now includes a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder. Finally, the five-door model gets a new manual transmission.
This affordable Suzuki crossover has been in production since 2016, designed specifically for India, where it is manufactured by Maruti Suzuki (a subsidiary of the Japanese company). The crossover debuted under the dual name Vitara Brezza, but in 2022, after transitioning to the second generation, the model became simply Brezza. Incidentally, for a time, the crossover was no longer an Indian exclusive—it was also exported to South Africa. However, export deliveries later ceased. In India, the Brezza initially topped the list of the country's most sought-after SUVs. But then interest in the crossover began to decline. Last year ended in the red: according to local media, sales dropped by 7% to 175,310 units. The facelift is intended to boost demand.
The crossover's front end has been redesigned. The Suzuki Brezza gets a new bumper, and the new fog lights are now positioned higher than on the pre-facelift model. The radiator grille features a different decorative trim. New-design wheels are also available (still 16 inches). Additionally, three design packages are offered—for example, the Turbo set with red accents.
Dimensions remain unchanged. The Suzuki Brezza has a length of 3995 mm (in India, vehicles under four meters in length qualify for significant tax benefits), a width of 1790 mm, a height of 1685 mm, and a wheelbase of 2500 mm.
Inside, the cabin gets a different climate control unit and refreshed trim materials. As before, "basic" trims come with a 7-inch multimedia system tablet (the entry-level crossover has no multimedia at all). However, the top-tier Suzuki Brezza now features a 10.1-inch screen (previously 9 inches). The highest-spec version also now includes ventilated front seats, new ambient lighting (64 colors), lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and an improved surround-view camera system. As before, the top-tier crossover also has a sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, a head-up display, and cruise control.
The main technical update is a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine producing 110 hp (the aforementioned Turbo package with red accents is specifically for this turbo version). The Suzuki Brezza also retains the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine (103 hp) and its bi-fuel CNG version (88 hp on methane). Meanwhile, the five-speed manual transmission has been replaced by a six-speed manual gearbox. The 6-speed manual is only available for the 1.0T and Brezza CNG models, while the purely gasoline 1.5-liter crossover also comes with a classic six-speed automatic. Finally, in the bi-fuel crossover, the gas cylinder is now located under the floor rather than in the trunk. Drive is exclusively front-wheel in all cases.
The updated Suzuki Brezza crossover will cost at least 739,900 rupees, equivalent to approximately 601,000 rubles at the current exchange rate.
