The recommended retail price of the new version of the Chinese SUV intended for the Russian auto market is 6,999,000 rubles.

Great Wall Motor officially announced the body-on-frame SUV Tank 400 for the Russian market in the fall of 2024. Recall that it debuted in its home country of China in 2023. Sales in Russia started in February 2025, and last summer, a Kolesa.ru correspondent tested the new model in action. Now, the local GWM office has reported that a new variant of the Tank 400, featuring alternative technology, is preparing for an imminent release on the Russian market.

Thus, the new Tank 400 in the Techno Premium trim is equipped with the Hi4-T plug-in hybrid system. It includes a 2.0-liter turbo engine (maximum power – 231 hp, torque – 380 Nm) working in tandem with an electric motor (163 hp and 400 Nm) integrated into a nine-speed automatic transmission. The total system output is 394 hp, with a maximum torque of 750 Nm. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 8.4 liters per 100 km. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.

The system also includes a lithium-ion traction battery with a capacity of 37.1 kWh, installed under the trunk floor. The battery can be charged while driving by the internal combustion engine or using energy recuperation during braking; it also supports fast DC charging with power up to 53 kW and slow AC charging with power up to 6.6 kW. External equipment with power up to 3.3 kW can be connected to the new version of the SUV. The range on electric power alone is 110 km.

The vehicle is equipped with mechanical differential locks, an intelligent all-wheel drive system, low-range gearing, and various driving electronic modes. The ground clearance of the hybrid Tank 400 is 224 mm, the approach angle is 33°, the departure angle is 31°, and the maximum fording depth is 800 mm.

The Tank 400 in the Techno Premium version features power-retractable side steps, a surround-view camera system with a "transparent hood" function, as well as a set of driver assistance systems, an active noise cancellation system, and double-glazed windows. The model also includes three-zone climate control, a panoramic roof, sunshades for the rear windows, and leather interior trim. The trunk volume is 566 liters, and with the rear seats folded down, the cargo space can be increased to 1803 liters.

The SUV is equipped with an infotainment system featuring a voice assistant, a 16.2-inch touchscreen, integrated Yandex Auto online services, and the ability to update software over the air. The winter package includes heating for all seats, the steering wheel, front and rear windows, exterior mirrors, and windshield washer nozzles, plus a rearview camera washer, an electronic speed limiter, and an enlarged windshield washer fluid reservoir of 4.5 liters.

According to GWM's plan, sales of the hybrid version of the Tank 400 will begin in the first half of August 2026. The recommended retail price of the new version of the SUV is 6,999,000 rubles. For comparison, the current cost of the purely gasoline-powered "four hundred" model today is 6,299,000 rubles.
